The 'Side of the Hill' logo

Having undertaken a brand refresh in January 2026 I thought I’d share the rationale behind my triangle logo so you can see a little of how I work. It might be pretty obvious that it represents a hill but it does go deeper much than that!
The triangle is sectioned up to represent the different types of clients I can help, and all the different elements and platforms I can design for.
It also illustrates that each client deserves a fully bespoke service as each business is totally different.

As part of the refresh I evolved the triangle hill icon into a simpler and bolder icon. The colours now feel refreshed and naturalistic. I’m still down to earth and perhaps even more grounded than before, but bolder and more confident.
I'm still remaining true to my founder story of why Side of the Hill came about, offering the wider view of big brand thinking to your brand. Although the landscape and my target audience is changing, the essence remains very much the same, of helping businesses get seen and heard with good quality design.
The colour palette is named to reflect the brand and each colour has a set of brand values aligned to it.

I could be on the ‘Top of the Hill’ or even a mountain, but this wouldn’t reflect the heritage of my surname. I often get asked why we are called 'Side of the Hill' and I wanted to retain that provenance and people love to hear the reasoning behind the name.
It’s designed as an icon with a word mark which means it can be used as a combined logo or the icon can be used on it’s own in reduced spaces, or for a more iconic impact.
If you would like a new logo with deeper meaning, or a re-designed, more flexible logo that would fit in multiple spaces then please drop me a line for a no-obligation chat.
